Tragedy struck on the final day of the year as a fatal head-on collision occurred near Belpukur Junction of Kulpi police station in South 24 Parganas. The incident involved a motor van, carrying passengers for a picnic from Kulpi to Nishchintpur, and a speeding bike traveling from Kakdweep towards Kulpi.
Both vehicles lost control, resulting in a devastating collision. Regrettably, one woman, identified as Rizia Bibi, lost her life at the scene, while three individuals, including the critically injured bike rider, were rushed to Kulpi Block Primary Health Centre. The collision led to a temporary traffic jam on National Highway No. 117, promptly addressed by Kulpi police station's intervention.
